Kids' Guitar FAQs

What size guitar does my child need?

As a rough guide, a 34-inch guitar suits most children aged about 5 to 9. From around 10 years old, many kids move up to a 38-inch guitar. Your child should be able to rest their arm over the body and reach the first fret comfortably.

Should my child start on acoustic or electric guitar?

An acoustic is simpler for young children, with nothing to plug in. An electric has lighter strings, which can be easier on small fingers, but needs an amplifier. Let the music your child loves guide the choice.
