Electric Guitars for Beginners

Karrera's electric guitars are made for players who want to learn rock, blues, pop or metal without spending a fortune. Choose a full-size 39-inch electric guitar, a scaled-down electric guitar for kids or a 4-string electric bass guitar, in finishes including black, sunburst, red, blue, pink and purple.

Full-Size 39-Inch Electric Guitars

Our 39-inch electric guitars are full-size 6-string instruments with a removable whammy bar (tremolo arm) and an adjustable bridge, so you can add vibrato to notes and set up the strings the way you like them. They are a solid first electric guitar for teens and adults.

Kids' Electric Guitars

Our junior double-cutaway electric guitars are scaled down for smaller hands while still playing like the real thing. They are a great choice for kids who want to play the music they hear, rather than a toy. See all kids' guitars.

Electric Bass Guitars

Want to hold down the groove? Our full-size 39-inch 4-string electric bass guitars come in black and sunburst. Prefer an acoustic sound? Try our acoustic bass guitars in the acoustic guitars range.

Electric Guitar FAQs

Do I need an amp for an electric guitar?

Yes. An electric guitar is very quiet on its own and needs an amplifier, or a headphone amp, to be heard properly. Check each listing to see exactly what is included.

Is an electric guitar easier to learn than an acoustic?

Many beginners find it easier at first, because electric guitars have lighter strings and a slimmer neck that are kinder to the fingers.

What is a whammy bar?

A whammy bar, or tremolo arm, attaches to the bridge and bends the pitch of the strings when pushed or pulled, creating vibrato and dive-bomb effects.
